YOUNG & INNOCENT

When a woman’s body rolls up on a public beach, with a raincoat belt around her neck, suspicion falls on a young acquaintance. His story, that his raincoat was stolen from his car the day before, fails to convince the police. However, on the way to court, he manages to escape – with the unwilling assistance of the daughter of the Chief Constable. She soon finds it hard to believe he’s guilty, and agrees to help him recover the raincoat – if only they can stay ahead of the police, who are hard on their heels. In this early thriller, Alfred Hitchcock shows his gift for mixing humour and romance with suspense.
