Life is sliding slowly downhill for Billy, Dean Stockwell, his brother Ray, Russ Tamblyn, and their friend Frank, Alex Karras: They’re all hooked on the ponies, and none of them can pick a winner. Then, one day at the Pari-Mutuel window, Billy conceives a larcenous scheme to beat the odds, big time; and the slippery slope they’re on suddenly gets steeper. With considerable ineptitude and more hard work than they’ve expended in years, they put the scheme in motion. It proves to be a little more complicated than they imagined, but they mismanage to pull it off – with unexpected and hilarious results.
