RAIN

RAIN
Stranded, in the only hotel on the sultry south-sea island of Pago Pago, high-spirited party girl, Sadie Thompson Joan Crawford, draws the anger of puritanical missionaries who are offended by her fast and easy ways. When she refuses to be subdued, she finds herself facing the wrath of a fire-and-brimstone preacher Walter Huston, hell-bent on her reform or her destruction. This film was so controversial that it nearly scuttled the career of its young star. It’s a version of Somerset Maugham’s classic story which remains timeless in its exploration of manners and morality.
