When an ageing prospector finds a promising vein of gold, he rushes to town with his faithful companion, Lassie, to share the good news with his long-time partner – only to learn the man has just died, leaving a grief-stricken wife and their 10 year old son, Tommy Gary Gray. Needing help to work the vein, he offers a share to a well-meaning friend of his partner. With Tommy helping as well, their hidden stash of gold grows quickly . . . until gold fever puts all their lives at risk, and only Lassie can save them.
