THE OLD TESTAMENT

THE OLD TESTAMENT
Jerusalem, early in the second century B.C., and the Judeans are oppressed by the Syrian King. The eldest son of the High Priest urges revolt, but the Priest, urged by his second son, chooses the path of peaceful co-existence. Then the new Syrian Governor demands that the Ark of the Covenant be replaced by a golden idol; the refusal sparks a bloody uprising on the temple steps. Many perish in the bitter struggle which ensues, until a leader emerges to take up the sword and lead the Judeans in reclaiming Jerusalem, and re-consecrating the temple.
