Arthur Groome Rex Harrison, is a respectable, middle-class family man, with a dark secret which is about to tear his life apart: a jealous passion for a pretty showgirl who’s grown tired of his attentions. When Arthur shows up to berate her for breaking a date, he finds her stabbed to death in her sitting room. Horrified, he hastens home but nightmare has just begun. The girl’s landlady has seen him going into her room; the murder weapon belongs to him and her blood is on his clothes. He soon finds himself on trial for murder.
