THE LAST TIME
I SAW PARIS
Elizabeth Taylor is at her most ravishing and gorgeous self as the younger sister who falls in love with Donna Reed’s man, in this post-World War II romantic drama, based upon an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Babylon Revisited. This formula love story, directed by Richard Brook, gained limited acclaim among critics. Nevertheless, the film about American expatriates in Paris, was popular with war-weary movie-goers of the mid ‘50s, and featured strong performances by Taylor, Reed, Walter Pigeon, Eva Gabor and a young Roger Moore. The title song, sung by Dinah Shore, became a standard of the 1950s and ‘60s.
