As a young man, to please his mom who scrimped to pay for them, Joseph Louis Barrow took violin lessons, but one day a friend persuaded him to stop by the local boxing gym instead. His size, strength and speed, impressed the trainer, and the legendary Brown Bomber was on his way to the Heavyweight Championship of the World.

The Joe Louis Story recounts the inspiring life of this shy, softly spoken and gentle man, who was a hero to so many people. It includes many of his major moments in the ring, from his epic battles with Max Schmeling to his devastating defeat by Rocky Marciano.
