American chorus girl, Janet Jones Vera-Ellen, is in Edinburgh, hoping to be discovered in the new musical being mounted by impresario John frost Cesar Romero. However, when the flamboyant producer throws a tantrum at rehearsal, Janet quits. With his creditors closing in, Frost fears all may be lost – enter Scotland’s richest businessman B.G. Bruno David Niven. When his chauffer gives Janet a lift, rumours of romance abound, and Frost offers Janet the lead – if she can get Bruno on board. Bruno wants no part of showbiz . . . until he meets the lovely Miss Jones.
