1588; Queen Elizabeth and her small island kingdom are threatened by mighty Spain and its fanatical monarch Philip, master of Europe and the New World. Adding to the threat from without is the danger within; conspirators professing loyalty to the crown, but privately committed to Spanish domination. In desperation, Elizabeth sends a young naval officer on a secret mission to the Spanish court. He soon learns of the impending Armada, but can he reach home in time to forestall the invasion?
