With the Civil War over, Confederate Captain Justice Cain Scott Brady, the leader of a behind-enemy-lines band of marauders has retired to a peaceful homesteader’s life with a new wife and their young son. When the lawless survivors of his old command show up on his doorstep and ask him to lead them again, he refuses - so Cain’s Cutthroats shoot him. They then murder his wife and son and burn down his homestead . . . but Cain survives. Obsessed with revenge, he teams up with a bounty-hunting preacher John Carradine, to track the killers down, one by one, and exact a dreadful vengeance.
